Bringing their magazine to life with a big fashion and lifestyle event, Black & White heads to Uptown Cairo with Egypt's top designers and brands in tow, and a special performance from Ghalia Ben Ali this May 8th.
The fashion industry is one that continues to grow in Egypt – let’s face it, we all love looking good, whether it’s out to lunch, a big party or the wedding of your dreams. When it comes to wedding planning however, inspiration is hard to find. Yes, we have wedding planners and yes, we have wedding fairs but they’re often as helpful as your aunt’s input. In other words: loud, annoying and way too old fashioned. Hoping to change that by turning their print issue into a real life fashion and lifestyle show is Black & White Magazine, as they prepare to take over Emaar’s Uptown Cairo with a new take on bridal shows this Friday 8th May.
Wedding season has become a year-round affair, and there isn’t anyone among us who hasn’t run into monstrous bridezilla looking for the perfect dress, freaking out about table settings or looking for that perfect makeup look. But it’s not just for bridesmaids or brides; this fashion-fueled event will have something for every stylish lady out for a new look. With beauty powerhouse Wujooh offering free consultations and makeup artist Mira El Feky doing makeovers and explaining her expert techniques, you’ll find your summer look here.
With the latest in local haute couture on display, make sure to head to the Uptown Cairo Clubhouse in time to catch runway shows by Samah Mahran and Hisham Aboul Ela kicking off at 7PM and ending with their grand finale bridal look. After browsing the various supplier stalls which cover everything from flower arrangements to wedding favours, go for a bite at the Clubhouse and meet the Black & White Team. “It’s also a perfect way for us to meet our readers, creating a connection,” tells us Marketing Manager Youmna Moustafa. “It’s the first time a magazine comes to life, where you can see, feel and interact with the contents of a magazine.”
Botros Jewellery will also be putting on a jewellery show, so the latest in engagement and wedding jewel trends will be at your disposal (ahem, guys), while makeup and hair trends will be spearheaded La Coupe, so if you’re getting married soon make sure to bring your bridesmaids along to decide on a look that suits you all. This is a must-attend for stylists and photographers looking for the next big thing in beauty. Take a memory of the afternoon home too as London Photobooth will be on hand for fun photos and Instagrammable snaps.
Making sure the Black & White Show is an entertaining event in and of itself, the team have enlisted the experience of DJ Khaled Hussein to provide the soundtrack to the evening, while an elaborate firework and Chinese lantern show will finish up the night and hopefully put the spark back into your summer. Tunisian songstress Ghalia Ben Ali has also been confirmed to perform and if you haven’t caught her live before, today’s your chance to see the Oriental Jazz pro in action and be captivated by her unique voice.
