Cairo International Airport's Capacity Will Be Doubled
In 2023, Cairo International Airport was Egypt's busiest airport.
The Egyptian Cabinet has unveiled plans for a new passenger building at Cairo International Airport, with the aim of accommodating over 30 million passengers annually. Currently, the airport handles a significantly lower number of passengers.
During a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Mohamed Abbas, the Minister of Civil Aviation, presented initial financial studies for the project, considering both self-financing and commercial financing options.
In 2023, Cairo International Airport was Egypt's busiest airport, experiencing a 28 percent increase in passenger traffic compared to the previous year.
To enhance services and boost revenue, Prime Minister Madbouly underscored the importance of involving the private sector in airport management and operation. This aligns with the plans announced in November 2023 to offer contracts to private companies for airport management and operation.
