As the final whistle blew on Egypt's humiliating defeat to Ghana in the final round of the World Cup Qualifications, our dreams of going to Brazil were well and truly dashed. Well now if you fancy yourself a bit better than the flops of Bob Bradley's former team, you could now have a chance to win a free trip to Brazil and compete in the International Copa Kia 5-a-Side tournament. We know Egyptians can't get enough of khomasy, it's strangely more popular than its 11-a-side counterpart and with the frenzy of Ramadan tournaments just a month or two away, we're sure many of you already have your teams together.
The first round of 16 for the Copa Kia qualification in Egypt kicks off at 2PM on the 16th of May at NewGiza's stunning football facility, before the quarter finals on the 18th. The semi-final and finals will be held on the 23rd of May. The tournament will be played on grass, 5 against 5, with one substitute for each team and no professional players are allowed entry into the tournament.
The winner of the tournament will be invited to the World Finals in Brazil on a 4-day trip sponsored by Kia. The winning team will be attending a quarter final match and also participating in the Copa KIA World Cup tournament in Brazil.
Fees of the tournament per team, including two soccer jerseys for each player, is 1800L.E. Each player in each team has to fill the application with a copy of his ID and sign the agreement of rules and regulations of the tournament.
To register your team for the tournament head to the Kia Champ into the Arena Facebook application here.
Good luck and see you in Brazil! Sorry, we mean we won't see you, we'll be entering a team and winning - we have a fat guy in goal.
