Disrupt!/Music! With Your Ideas

Advancements in technology are responsible for changing a variety of industries. Believing in the power of combining business and technology, the minds behind Mideast Creatives and Innoventures are looking to creatively shake up the music industry at their Disrupt!/Music! event taking place on the 28^th-30^th of May 2015.

Disrupt!/Music! is but the latest gathering of minds and skills dead set on making an impact on the music industry. According to project manager, Seif Abdel Salaam, “It’s a three day series of workshops that hopes to develop ideas into projects that feeds into the creative industry in Egypt at large.” Over the intense workshop, participants will be given the opportunity to develop a business model for their project and will be provided expert advice from experienced mentors in both the business and music.

Disrupt!/Music! is free for all to apply and hopes to attract a variety of participants. “We hope to see as many people as possible applying and taking part this event. We want to attract artists, business leaders, tech developers and designers to work together with a shared goal of creating new ideas that will impact the music industry,” explains Abdel Salaam. Whether you apply as a team or are just a lone wolf with a great idea, Disrupt!/Music! will provide the support to turn dreams into reality. Anyone under the age of 35 from any background is encouraged to sign up. Unlike other start-up workshops, a specific idea is not necessary in order to participate, as Disrupt!/Music! encourages anyone interested in the industry to come out and join a team to help develop a new creative vision.

More than a workshop Disrupt!/Music! is also a competition and will be awarding four cash prizes for the best ideas that have the potential in becoming a real start-up. The winners will be selected by a team of judges made up of industry leaders, who will base their decisions on the strength of the ideas and teams, the feasibility of their business model, and the quality of their presentation. The prizes are as follows:

500 EUR – Music Innovation Prize 
500 EUR – Technology Innovation Prize 
500 EUR – Business Innovation Prize 
1500 EUR – Grand Prize 

Applications to this event have just been opened and the deadline to enter is set for the 13^th of May 2015. Those whose applications are accepted will be informed on May 16^th and must be committed to attend the opening evening session on 18^th May at ElSawy Culture Wheel. If you are looking to prove that your idea is a winner, then waste no time applying and prepare to use the resources needed to impact or disrupt the music industry.
