Egypt's Dr. Amani Abou-Zeid Chosen for ‘100 Influential Women in Africa’ List for 2019

African Union Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy, Dr. Amani Abou-Zeid, has been chosen as one of the 100 Most Influential African Women (100MIAW) for 2019, a list compiled by PR and rating firm, Advance Media.

MD of Advance Media, Prince Akpah, noted that the selection of the 100 women from 35 African countries are “changing the feminine narrative and challenging the status quo of women on the continent,” with Abou-Zeid standing as the only Egyptian and one of only two North African women to be features.

Akpah also mentioned that a new “Be A Girl Mentorship Program” is in the works, and that some of the honorees have expressed interest in mentoring young women from across the continent.

Abou-Zeid has received countless international awards and recognition for her leadership, including the medal of Wissam Alaouite de l’Ordre Officier from His Majesty King Mohamed VI of Morocco, as well as being named one of the 50 Most Influential Women in Africa in 2012 by the Langaa Research and Publishing Common Initiative Group.
