Video: Fifty Shades of Abla Fahita

Abla Fahita, Egypt most popular puppet, has found herself caught in the middle of a social media storm after a promo for her new show was aired on the privately-owned CBC channel.

For months anticipation has building as Abla Fahita appeared on billboards across the nation in a nightgown holding a copy of 50 Shades of Grey. The highly anticipated show released its new promo yesterday, and after 27 seconds had Egyptians wondering WTF they just saw. According to Egyptian Youm 7 the ad was filled with “sexual innuendos that are inconsistent with Egyptian traditions.” You can watch it below and tell us what you think:

At the end of the video the puppet announces that her new show, Abla Fahita Live from the Duplex, is only suitable for adults. We honestly had no idea that Egyptian were hungry for sexy puppets, but it does have people talking.  After watching the promo here is how Twitter reacted:

Sadly this is not the first time Abla Fahita has stirred up controversy as, in 2014, she made global headlines after some speculated she was promoting conspiracy against the state in a Vodafone commercial.
