Giza’s Al Qawmiya Metro Station Prepares for Operation This October

The Ministry of Transport has begun preparations to open Al Qawmiya Metro Station in Giza. The development coincides with the experimental operation of the final phase of Cairo’s Metro Line 3, which will see the opening of six new stations.

Al Qawmiya Metro Station will serve the areas around the middle of Al Qawmiya Street in north Giza, close to the Ring Road.

At completion of Cairo Metro Line 3, the metro’s passenger capacity is expected to reach 15 million per month, and will connect Metro Line 2 at Cairo University Station.

The funding for the completion of Metro Line 3 has been provided by the European Investment Bank at a value of EUR 600 million, and is being operated by French transportation company RTP Dev.
