Health Ministry Begins Free Home Medicine Delivery Trial in Qalyubia
A new initiative aims to ease pressure on health centres by delivering free medicine directly to patients' homes.
The Ministry of Health and Population has launched a trial initiative in the Governorate of Qalyubia to deliver free medicine directly to patients' homes. This new program, part of the government's larger effort to mechanize the medical system, follows directives from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and aims to improve healthcare services across Egypt.
In the initial phase of the trial, 400 patients at Shebin El-Qanater Hospital in Qalyubia Governorate will receive free medicines over the course of two months.
The trial is designed to enhance patient health by establishing a comprehensive database of patients, which will be used to support the efficient mechanisation of the medical system. To facilitate the delivery process, an electronic system has been introduced for dispensing medicine. This system ensures the secure and accurate delivery of medications to patients, while also reducing the strain on health centres.
The system is expected to provide valuable insights into the most prevalent diseases across different governorates and will also register hospital pharmacies on the new platform, generating reports to better manage medicine costs and usage.
