Kasr Al Ainy Hospital Installs Surgical Robot to Treat Kidney Failure

If you’re having a kidney operation at Kasr Al Ainy Hospital, your next surgeon might be a robot. A new EGP 45 million surgery robot has been installed to treat renal failure at Kasr Al Ainy Hospital, with all of its procedures to be performed for free with support from the Central Bank of Egypt.

Robotic surgery allows doctors to perform complex procedures with minimal error. While they’re typically used for minimally invasive surgeries, there are times where robots can be used in bigger procedures.

This robot will be a special opportunity for people with life threatening tumors, since this new technique is quick, mostly harmless and reduces blood loss in surgery, especially as it will assist a human surgeon through its 3D visualization and ability to magnify a surgeon’s view of the operation by up to five times.
