Life-like Sophia The Robot is coming to Sharm El Sheikh's World Youth Forum!

Want to meet a robot? We're not talking about a Roomba, but like an actual honest-to-god, stare-you-in-the-eyes, can-go-back-in-time-as-the-Terminator robot. So do we, which is why we're hyped to learn that last week, world-famous human simulacrum Sophia the Robot announced that she will participate at the World Youth Forum in Sharm El Sheikh!

The announcement was shown in a video released on the World Youth Forum's Facebook page, featuring Sophia the Robot herself. Sophia was made in February 2016 by Hanson Robotics, a Hong Kong-based company that initially designed her to be a conversational guide in crowded events and act as a companion for the elderly at nursing homes. Sophia is the first robot to receive a nationality after Saudi Arabia gave her citizenship, become a Belt and Road Innovative Technology Ambassador for China, and even appear in a music video with Leehom Wang. All things considered, she's pretty accomplished for a three-year-old.

Adding to her list of distinctions will be her attendance at the World Youth Forum, an event that is dedicated to engaging youths globally so that they may exchange views and ideas. Upon her announcement, the World Youth Forum stated on Facebook that Sophia "personifies our dreams for the future of AI."

This year's World Youth Forum will run from December 14th to December 17th. If you want to come face-to-face with an artificial mirror into our humanity and ask her if she, too, thinks Wall-E is adorable, check out the World Youth Forum on their website or their Facebook page.
