The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization has opened a new commercial area to the public, which includes a children's museum known as Kimet Kids, and a range of stores selling luxurious Egyptian products, including ornaments, sweets, textiles and children's toys.
The museum has also launched a number of cultural and educational activities, including art exhibitions, a theatre performance of ‘Hatshepsut’ about the famed female Pharaoh, and the ‘Cinema and Civilization’ initiative. To celebrate the launch of the initiative, a cultural and artistic ceremony was held in the museum's Grand Theater, followed by the screening of ‘The Mummy’, the 1969 Egyptian film by renowned director Shadi Abdel Salam.
