New 'Safe Haven' for Wildlife Will Span 2,000 Acres in Fayoum

Safe Haven, a 2,000 acre animal sanctuary, will be established in Fayoum’s Wadi El Rayan protected area, according to an announcement by Minister of Environment, Dr. Yasmine Fouad, and Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansari, Governor of Fayoum.

173 acres have already been established for the first phase of the ecotourism project, which will include both herbivorous and carnivorous wildlife. This first phase is scheduled to be completed within the next three years.

The Safe Haven project will involve collaborations with various international humanitarian organisations, including Jordan’s Princess Alia bint Al Hussein Foundation, and the Four Paws foundation, a global animal welfare organisation.
