Over EGP 1 Billion Worth of Lentils Imported into Egypt in 2021

As it turns out, we get most of our lentils from Australia at about EGP 40,142,000, followed by Canada at EGP 32,995,000.

Oh, lentils. You've been with us since the beginning of civilization, it feels like. Giving our kosharies that much needed bite, warming us through the winter as soup - we can't get enough of you. So much so that we've seen a remarkable jump in lentil imports this year, rising to over EGP 1 billion (or EGP 1,294,000,000, if we want to count our beans) during the first nine months of 2021 - a EGP 312 million increase from the same period in 2020.

As it turns out, we get most of our lentils from Australia at about EGP 40,142,000, followed by Canada at EGP 32,995,000. In terms of volume, Australia sent 56,490,000 kg of the stuff, while Canada sent 38,079,000.
