Prophet’s Mosque Welcomes 9.7 Million Worshippers in 10 Days
The Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah saw millions gather for prayers and Iftar, with expanded services ensuring smooth access.

In the first ten days of Ramadan, more than 9.7 million worshippers attended prayers at the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, filling its prayer halls, courtyards, and rooftop spaces. The General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, in coordination with local authorities, implemented a range of measures to manage the massive influx of visitors, including enhanced crowd monitoring and streamlined access routes to ensure smooth movement within the mosque.
Hundreds of thousands of worshippers joined daily Iftar meals, followed by Isha and Taraweeh prayers. To accommodate the crowds, the mosque expanded services by laying carpets across its courtyards and new expansions. Additionally, essential resources, including ample Zamzam water supplies, were provided to meet the needs of the growing congregation.
In related developments, the General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque recently recorded 500,000 Umrah pilgrims in a single day at the Grand Mosque. To manage this influx, advanced sensor-based readers were deployed at main entrances to monitor numbers and improve crowd management.
