Public Prosecutor's Office Launches Investigation into the 'Fairmont Incident' Sexual Assault Case

The Egyptian Public Prosecution office has just announced its launch of an investigation into the alleged sexual assault known publicly as the 'Fairmont Incident’, according to a complaint filed on Tuesday by the National Council for Women. The complaint has been filed on behalf of the victim of a gang rape in 2014 that occurred in the Fairmont Nile City, accompanied by testimony from witnesses.

The Public Prosecutor has launched the investigation into the case, and will be updating the public with all relevant information as long as it does not impact legal proceedings, according to the office's statement.
