Veiled & Divorced Women Can Now Compete in Miss Egypt Beauty Pageant
The Bent Masr beauty pageant changes its admission rules to include married, divorced, and veiled women.
The Bent Masr beauty pageant has announced new admission rules which will allow married, divorced, and veiled women to take part in this year’s contest.
The beauty pageant was founded in 2016 and is an extension of the Miss Egypt contest, which has been held in Egypt since 1927.
This announcement comes after a similar rule change was made for the Miss Universe International earlier last year. Previously, only women between the ages of 20 and 29 who had never been married nor had children were allowed to participate in the Miss Egypt Pageant.
Although the age limit for the participants hasn’t changed, the new rules look to promote inclusivity and flexibility regarding the appearance of the participants.
