Zahi Hawass is Popping Up in Times Square Billboards Every 2 Minutes, Here's Why
Get your Indiana Jones together, we're going on a ride.
According to Egyptian news outlet Masrawy and his own Facebook page, famed Egyptian Egyptologist and former Minister of Antiquities Zahi Hawass is popping up on billboards in Times Square every two minutes, and will continue doing so for the next month. The appearance, an invitation addressing the whole world to come 'take the Royal Tour with Zahi Hawass', aims at attracting tourists to the country.
Egypt’s Minister of Tourism Rania El Mashat recently appraised Hawass’ efforts to bolster the Egyptian tourism sector, offering her full support, and urging the Ministry's official accounts to repost the campaign.
Starting next Wednesday, Hawass will be hosting a number of talks and lectures across the US, set to be joined by the Egyptian Ambassador to the US, Hesham El Nakib, as well as EgyptAir representatives and archaeologists from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
