Arab Contractor's Company - one of Africa and the Middle East's leading construction companies - is set to build the Tanzanian hydroelectric dam, as presidents of both Tanzania and Egypt met and set the foundation stone.

President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi visited President John Magufuli of Tanzania on Sunday and signed on Egypt and Tanzania's upcoming project to construct the new dam, Stiegler's Gorge. The $3 billion project will be funded by the Tanzanian government, according to Almal News.

Magufuli has reportedly made remarks as to how this dam will "make Tanzania, Egypt, the African continent proud." The hydroelectric damn will be Tanzania's largest.

The dam is set to begin construction on Rufiji River's basin, and is marked as a significant moment in Tanzania, as it will be the start of a national hydroelectric power generation. The dam is set to produce 2,100 megawats of electricity.

Arab Contractors is expected to finish it within 36 months, according to Reuters.
