Ready! Set! Get off your couch and go! Yes, the Cairo Half Marathon is upon us once again. On February 28th, Cairo Runners, the first running troupe in Egypt, will take over the city, having organised their annual marathon with a run for everyone. The Cairo Half Marathon kicks off at 6:30am and will feature three different races. For families they are offering a 1km family run, where families will be able to take part at their own pace. For amateur runners there will be a 7km run, and for the hardcore of runners there will be a 21km race, all set in the sprawling New Cairo district.

This is not the first run the Cairo Runners have organised but it is set to be the longest race to date. All registration proceeds will be used to cover logistics of the event, with the rest of the money being donated to the Alashnek ya Balady charity. Joining the race, will be a few familiar faces such as footballing hero Mohamed Abu Treika.

Registering for this event is as easy as 1,2,3. All you need to do is visit a registration location, pay LE50 pounds in return for a registration card. Then you need to fill out the online registration form, then exchange your registration card for a race number at any of the registration sites. After receiving your number all that is left to do is tie those laces and set off for the races.

For those of you who can't wait for the finish line, get into the excitement and anticipation through tweeting on the #WERUNCAIRO hashtag. We at CairoScene can't wait and hope to see you all there as we unify behind this amazing event, leaving our worries behind and focusing our mind on the finish line.
