Summer means one thing for many of Cairo’s partygoers: escaping the pressure cooker of the city on a trip up to the North Coast. A favourite for its balmy beach days and electrifying music nights, KIKI’s Beach Bar recently announced a packed line up of their ‘Fridays at KIKI’s’ series, running from June 29th to September 2nd 2023 for ten weeks of beachside grooves.
This year’s lineup features an eclectic mix of local and international DJs to pulse rhythms and tunes across the musical spectrum. Italian-Turkish New York-based DJ Carlita will take the stage, whose influences range all the way from Japanese techno to Beethoven, as well as Australia’s Kaz James, serial resident DJ at Mykonos who is known for always attracting a good crowd, along with none other than Ibiza heavyweight Richy Ahmed. An innovator from the Second Wave of Detroit techno, the iconic Stacey Pullen will also make an appearance, one of the scene’s most in-demand DJs and a music producer who crafts an atmosphere-laden electronic sound.
Local names, meanwhile, feature the Egypt’s iconic DJ Misty, whose versatile tastes span house to techno and electronica, as well as Cairo-based duo Gawdat, whose signature style and groove-laden mixing style is heavily influenced by 90’s R&B culture, classic soul, and jazzy basslines. Another local favourite includes Abou Samra, whose inspiration for techno and tech house has taken him from Barcelona to Croatia.
Further names on the line up include tech-house virtuoso Youssef Awadly, Italian electronic dance music DJ Tennis, as well as the much-loved Birds of Mind whose electronic selections are influenced by organic sounds and hypnotic beats. We can also expect to see Doomaz, Fady Yonathan, Jess, Gloria Roffaell, KZ&Cake, Mady, Ahmed Moenes, Pawsa, and Seif Nashed, with more names to be announced.
