Egyptian Rock Band Malaaz Adopt Alternative Sound in ‘3eed El Zehour’

With the release of ‘3eed El Zehour’, the second single from their ongoing Qormozy album, Egyptian rock band Malaaz send a message of optimism amidst a dark moment.

Following their year-long hiatus, the new releases indicate that the band has been transitioning from a rock-inspired sound in their previous album ‘Al Sad3’ to one influenced by alternative indie music.

With Maged Amer on the mic, Amr Besh and Mohamed Abdelrazik blessing the guitar strings (and the latter composing and songwriting), AJ El Gohary banging the drums, and finally, Moataz El Nashar shaping the bass, Malaaz mellow out their sound in ‘3eed El Zehour’ but still manage to rock it out.A warm acoustic guitar riff and a descending bassline accompany Maged’s euphonious vocal harmonies, which invite the electric guitar and drums to energise the track. Midway through, enters a killer tone guitar solo to prolong the emotional thunderstorm.

Sending a message of optimism and endurance in the face of life’s difficulties, the emotive vocals and poignant melodies of the song help anchor Malaaz within the underground alternative rock scene.

Malaaz plan to release a new track each Sunday to complete their five-track project, so stay tuned over the coming weeks.
