MENA Musicians Can Apply for ‘OneBeat’ Artist Residency in New York

OneBeat is now accepting applications for two month-long music exchanges in New York, bringing together 50 musicians from 54 eligible countries and territories across the world for residencies in the spring and fall of 2024. The eligible countries include Egypt, Algeria, Palestine, Mauritania, Tunisia, Iraq, Lebanon and more from the SWANA region.

Launched in 2012, OneBeat has steadily established itself as a gathering place for the musical leaders shaping the landscape of the 21st century. Originally conceived as an annual residency and tour program, OneBeat gathers emerging musicians to engage in collaborative music creation, while also exploring strategies for arts-based civic and social engagement.

The selected musicians will have the opportunity to join two rounds of the residency: OneBeat 13 (April-May) and OneBeat 14 (September-October). Following the residency, they will go on tour across the US, collaborate with local musicians, and lead workshops with youth and community organisations.

Fellows will also use this time to plan and develop projects in their home countries that align with OneBeat's mission of collaboration and engagement.

Musicians and sonic artists between the ages of 19 and 35 are encouraged to apply, and all expenses will be covered for accepted applicants. OneBeat’s criteria gives precedence to applicants who show musical excellence and innovation, socially driven projects, and a willingness to bridge cultural and musical gaps through collaboration.

The deadline for applications is September 15th; for more information, visit 1beat.org
