Violin Prodigy Taylor Rankin is Back in Cairo!

After a stellar performance at Cairo Jazz Club last year, Taylor Rankin and his trusty violin Leroy, are back in the city...

When we say 'violin', what is the first thing that comes to mind? Probably classical music, opera houses, and funerals. But after next week, the only thing you will be thinking of is one of the best nights you ever had at Cairo Jazz Club.

After an incredible performance at CJC last year, Taylor Rankin is back to make the capital speechless again. Hailing all the way from Bermuda, Rankin has successfully toured the world with his unique sound and now, the musical prodigy is back in town! Of course, he doesn't perform alone; the heart of his performances is Leroy, his violin. And if you thought you knew the sounds a violin could make, you better think again. They don't call him the Violin Wizard for nothing...

Rankin doesn't just play the violin, he duets with it. Leroy is a string instrument as well as a plucked instrument, creates slow as well as fast beats, and can inspire you to think or to rock your booty. The sound the two create together is unlike any other violin sound you have heard. Further support comes from a two-piece band that underlines the musical glory with drums and percussion, enabling Taylor Rankin to play songs ranging from Raggae to Soul, all while putting Leroy to work. As if that wasn't enough, he will be joined by Ali Baghdady, lead singer from Tom Waits tribute band Raindogs, Kareem Hossem, and more special surprise guests that will be announced closer to the time. Needless to say, if you understand music, you're in for one hell of a night.

If you don't believe us, get a taste of the incredible talent of Taylor Rankin here and take a look at last year's performance. He also just so happened to pop by our office last year for a chat, after which he knocked our socks off with an impromptu performance... We'll certainly be making our way over to Cairo Jazz Club next Tuesday the 20th of January and we suggest you do too if you want to watch the most unique violin jam of your life. More information on the epic night are available here.
