Nob Design Married Street and High Fashion in Their Latest Collection
Inspired by a personal experience, this brand's latest collection is elevating street wear. And we got an exclusive first look at the shoot.

The unlikely duo of streetwear and high fashion is becoming a common occurrence in the fashion world – call it ‘elevated streetwear’ if you may. Nob Designs, an Egyptian fashion brand is making use of sweatshirts, T-shirts, and vests to elevate the quotidian essentials. But there’s also a twist, because a lot of denim is involved.
Every piece is either hand-stitched or hand-painted by Ahmed Nabil, founder and creative mind behind Nob Designs. The collection, Gladly Disappointed was inspired by Maison Margiela’s deconstructed then reconstructed garments, but more importantly by a personal experience. Nabil bought denim pants, cut them out and repurposed them into other clothing items, like vests, sleeves of dresses, and skirts. “It was more expensive and more work, I could’ve just brought denim fabric; but it was part of the healing process for me. It’s the first time that I’ve based an entire collection fully and solely on a personal experience,” says Nabil.
Every time I thought of fishnets, I landed on an ‘I could never pull that off’ verdict; but Nob Designs’ sleek black fishnet construction, teamed with cool cut-outs and hand-printed words changed my mind, street can be chic. “The collection is bold and striking, I used a popping colour, mustered for the first time, cartoon pictures and words with significant meaning,” explains Nabil. Nob Design have messages in T-shirt form, for example, Nabil hand painted words and phrases like ‘Bye Girl’ and ‘Bullshit’ on a Disney princess picture. “I realised life isn’t a cartoon and Fairy tales are a lie, I wanted to communicate that through fashion and art,” he tells us.
