‘My Father’s Scent’, a new drama film starring Ahmed Malek, has received five awards after screening at Final Cut Venice, which took place during the 2024 Venice Biennale.
The award-winning film features Ahmed Malek in the leading role alongside Kamal El Basha and Mayan El Sayed, and is directed by Mohamed Siam. The story follows a man who visits his sick father after a long absence, and navigates the dysfunctions and secrets in their relationship. Taking place during the Eid Al Adha festival, the film contrasts cultural practices and lavish displays of celebration with familial themes of childhood neglect, parental worry and the melancholy of old age.
