Egyptian Short Heads to LA Film Festival
Egyptian director Mohamed Karim and his creative crew will be jetting off to Los Angeles where The Visit will be screened as part of the Lift Off International Film Festival.
It's official - Egypt now boasts a roster of young artistic talent to rival any country and the latest to hit headlines is young director Mohamed Karim whose film The Visit (El Zeyara) has been selected to be screened as part of the Los Angeles edition of the Lift Off International Film Festival 2014. The multi-city event also takes place in London, Liverpool and Las Vegas concurrently.
The Visit was the fruits of Karim's labour during his studies as Prague Film School where he teamed up with Turkish screenwriter Yasemin Demirci to write the tale of a an estranged father and son brought back together after years of disconnection when the father falls sick. The father-son relationship is examined through tension, blame and regrets with tear-jerking results. Starring a young Egyptian cast of Ahmed Kamal, Atef Youssef and Lobna Wanas, this is a film and cast you should keep an eye out for.
