Abu Dhabi Ports Will Operate Three Egyptian Cruise Terminals

The Abu Dhabi Ports Group has signed a 15-year concession agreement worth USD 3 million with the Egyptian Red Sea Ports Authority (RSPA) to develop and operate passenger and cruise ship terminals at the ports of Hurghada, Safaga and Sharm El-Sheikh.

Egypt's Ministry of Transportation revealed that the agreement aligns with the country's strategy to expand cruise tourism and attract more international ships to Egyptian ports by doubling their operational capacity and promoting transit trade.

The partnership will also facilitate the operation of a cruise line connecting Egyptian ports with UAE's Zayed Port and potentially extending to ports in the Arabian Gulf, Port of Aqaba, Europe, and Asia.

El-Wazir clarified that the agreement does not involve the sale or acquisition of ports, but rather represents a partnership.

This agreement follows a recent 30-year definitive concession agreement between AD Ports and the RSPA for the development and operation of the Safaga 2 multi-purpose terminal, with USD 200 million in investments over three years.
