Haramain High-Speed Railway to Conduct 3,400 Trips for Ramadan Travel

The Haramain High-Speed Railway will operate over 3,400 trips during Ramadan 2025, providing 1.6 million seats to accommodate the influx of Umrah pilgrims and visitors. The railway, which connects Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah, and King Abdulaziz International Airport, plays a critical role in easing travel between the holy cities, particularly during peak pilgrimage seasons.

Since its inauguration in 2018, the 300 km/h electric railway has been a key part of Saudi Arabia’s transportation network, reducing congestion on major roads and cutting travel time between Makkah and Madinah to just 2 hours and 20 minutes. The network includes five stations, with King Abdulaziz Airport Station serving as the world’s largest airport-linked railway station, spanning 105,000 square metres and streamlining passenger movement.

The Haramain Railway operates 35 electric trains, each with 417 seats across 13 cars, including business and economy class cabins. Passengers benefit from entertainment screens, accessibility features, and onboard hospitality, while stations provide retail outlets, restaurants, shuttle bus services to the Grand Mosque, hotel reservations, and essential travel services.
