After much anticipation, Cairo's authorities inaugurated a new underground parking lot beneath Tahrir Square this weekend. We headed out to snap some photos.

Tahrir's New Underground Parking in Photos

Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb, Minister of Local Development Adel Labib and Governor of Cairo Galal Mostafa all attended the grand opening of the much-talked about new underground parking project which opened on Saturday. Right off Tahrir Square, adjacent to the Cairo Museum, the new parking lot hopes to relief traffic by freeing up the streets and providing safe and ample parking space in Downtown Cairo. With space for 1,700 cars and 24 tourist buses, parking there will be free until Monday 2nd February to get people all excited about it. Check out the photos here:
