Facebook To Battle Ebola

When Marc Zuckerberg donated $25 Million to fight Ebola last month it was only the start to his efforts to stop the infectious disease. Following his donation to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention toward fighting Ebola worldwide, Facebook will now add a button that lets users donate to the cause as easily as clicking the thumbs up symbol. This initiative previously allowed the social network to raise millions for charity after Typhoon Haiyan and the earthquake in Haiti four years ago.

With the simple click of a button, users are redirected to charities involved in fighting the disease.  Over the coming week, the donation option will give users the chance to donate to three different charities that Facebook feels are committed to battling the disease on the ground and on site. The groups are the International Medical Corps, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and Save the Children. With the Dacebook button, those charities reach an audience of the many millions of Dacebook users using the social network every day.

On top of that, 100 satellites have been deployed to increase communication via phones or the internet across the affected areas in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone. WiFi ports will give those affected in quarantine and those helping them far away from the comfort of their homes the chance to communicate with their loved ones back home.
