‘Batn Al Hout’ Series Fined for Casting TikToker ‘Al Karawan Mashakel’

The Actors Syndicate has imposed a EGP 100,000 fine on the creators of new Shahid series ‘Batn Al Hout’ for casting TikTok personality ‘Karawan Mashakel’, claiming that the casting choice is a violation of the syndicate’s values and standards for arts and artists. The syndicate is set to file an official complaint against the series’ director Ahmed Fouzy as well.

Karawan Mashakel, who has over 700,000 followers on TikTok, has appeared in the series’ second episode. He has already been facing official complaints regarding his content, which claim that it promotes immorality and threatens the values of Egyptian society.

‘Batn Al Hout’ just released its first three episodes on the streaming platform Shahid. Following the story of a man who is thrust into a drug trafficking empire after the imprisonment of his brother, the drama stars Bassem Samra, Mohamed Farrag, Samah Anwar and Basma.
