EgyptAir Buys 9 New Boeing Planes for $864 Million
Despite a year of dreadful headlines, EgyptAir is looking to expand their fleet by nine planes at a whopping $864 million.

Despite the dwindling number of tourists, a hijacking, and a bombing, EgyptAir continues to overcome struggles by announcing that they will be expanding their fleet by purchasing nine Boeing planes for $864 million.
According to the Associated Press, the Dubai Aerospace Enterprise, partly owned by the Dubai government, will finance eight of the new planes. It is unclear how the ninth plane will be purchased amidst a massive currency shortage, however, EgyptAir Chief Safwat Musallam tells AP that the "next generation 700-800s" have "an excellent reputation for reliability, performance, and cost efficiency."
EgyptAir has struggled in the last year as Flight MS 804 crashed into the Mediterranean in May, while another flight, months earlier, was hijacked in a hoax, damaging the airline's reputation.
