Video: ISIS Vows to Destroy the Pyramids

After blowing up a 2500-year-old temple in Iraq, ISIS now has its eyes set on the pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx.

In a video believed to have been released by Salafi Jihadi terrorist group ISIS, the group asserts that all non-Islamic ancient monuments are basically heathen relics and artifacts and therefore haram.

The video shows an ISIS member vowing to destroy the 2500-year-old temple of Nabu in the ancient Assyrian city of Nimrud in Iraq before it is actually blown up on camera. Nabu was the Babylonian god of wisdom and writing, which probably explains the group’s intense animosity towards him.The video wraps up on an even more troubling note as another ISIS member threatens to destroy the Pyramids and the Sphinx, which the group explained were built on the backs of slaves earlier in the footage – we find that bit particularly piquant given the group’s recent burning of caged Yazidi sex slaves alive. You can watch the full video here
