A source close to the Iranian football league has said that eight of the Iranian women's national football team are just posing as women and have not completed sex change operations.
The Iranian Women Football team has been the subject of recent heat due to the allegations that 8 of their team members aren't actually 'fully women', whatever that means. We were confused at the statement but after seeing the pictures of the team, our eyebrows unintentionally rose an inch or two
According to Al-Arabiya's Arabic news site, the Iranian team has been under heavy scrutiny as it was revealed that a majority of the players weren't actually women. “[Eight players] have been playing with Iran’s female team without completing sex change operations,” Mojtabi Sharifi, an official close to the Iranian league, said during an interview with the Iranian website Young Journalists Club.
The "scandal" is being blamed on Iranian's football governing body which Sharifi described as "unethical." These allegations remain unanswered by the officials.
It's not the first time that these sort of accusations have been made in Iranian Football with accusations having surface before in 2010 about a goal keeper.
