ASRT in Cairo Offering EGP 100,000 to Design New Mascot
The Academy of Scientific Research and Technology invites animators to design a 3D cartoon character that encapsulates the academy’s vision of innovation, while staying true to Egypt’s culture.

The Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) in Cairo is looking for a new mascot to represent them and their pursuit of science. As part of its eighth international scientific conference, the academy partnered with the College of Fine Arts to launch a competition which invites animators to design a 3D cartoon character that encapsulates the academy’s vision of innovation, while staying true to Egypt’s cultural identity.
The first prize winner will be awarded EGP 100,000. The runner up will receive EGP 75,000, while the third place winner will take home EGP 50,000. The 3D character should be presented in four different stances, should be animated, and should come in a GIF. The jury panel consists of a mix of visual artists and academics specialized in animation and media marketing.
The winners will be announced with the conclusion of the conference followed by an awards ceremony at the Cairo Innovation Fair.
Registration for the competition can be done through http://asrt.dtaa21.com. Submissions will be accepted until November 30th, 2021.
