Amitabh Bachchan Is Coming To Cairo

The Bollywood legend returns to Egypt this month to bring a taste of India to the Nile.

Staff Writer

Cairo gets its fair share of celebrities visiting but on March 31st, 2015 the Pyramids will have its most prominent guest yet this year: no other than Amitabh Bachchan, world-famous actor, singer, performer, philanthropist, legend and godfather of India, will grace the ancient site to discuss India by the Nile and bust a few dance moves, if we’re lucky.

Bachchan is visiting Egypt to grace the third Annual Indian Culture Festival, India by the Nile, to show everyone in Egypt how wonderful India is through dancing performances, film screenings, workshops and conversations. One of those conversations will be taking place with the Master himself who will be inaugurating the series of his best movies that will be shown in the course of the festival and speak about his monumental influence on Indian film and culture around the world.

The festival also hosts loads of other events around the capital and Alexandria. Running from March 30th until April 16th, other events will include the Bollywood Extravaganza, a musical show at the Cairo Opera House running from April 1st to 3rd, and at the Sayed Darwish Theatre in Alexandria from April 6th to 8th, Wellbeing Experiences and Street Food Events in Al Azhar Park on April 3th and 4th, and performances by famous Indian band Advaita and Manipuri folk dance throughout. The full schedule for the festival is available here.

We are looking forward to the fabulous guests coming to Cairo and Alexandria to represent India and can’t wait to see Indian dance entertain us, have Indian food fill our bellies, and watch Amitabh Bachchan discuss his many movies in front of the Pyramids. Stay tuned…
