BBC Censors Amir El Masry’s Gaza Ceasefire Speech at BAFTA Scotland

The BBC has censored Egyptian-British actor Amir El Masry’s ceasefire speech during their coverage of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) in Scotland.

While presenting the award for Best Actress at the BAFTA Scotland awards, El Masry seized the opportunity to advocate for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip in light of the continuous bombardment by the occupying Israeli forces. During the BBC’s iPlayer coverage, however, the speech in its entirety was removed along with other calls for a ceasefire, such as those made by Eilidh Munro, director of ‘A Long Winter’, which won the Short Film & Animation award.

El Masry shared his full speech on his Instagram, urging others to speak up against the atrocities committed against the Palestinian people.
