BREAKING: Gunman Opens Fire on Coptics in Minya Killing at Least 23 and Injuring 25

The shooting took place as a bus in Minya was headed to the Monastery of Anba Samuel.

An unnamed gunman has opened fire on a bus carrying 50 Coptic Christians who were headed to the Monastery of Anba Samuel in Minya on Friday morning, according to Al Arabiya. At least 23 people have been reported dead at the scene with 25 others injured, the governor of Minya Essam al-Bedaiwy says. Authorities have treated the shooting as a terrorist attack.

This comes just one month after a terrorist attack claimed by ISIS took the life of a police officer and injured three others near the St. Catherine Monastery

The total number of deaths and injuries in the Minya attack is yet to be confirmed.
