Closed-circuit security cameras will be integrated within a set of new Metro carriages provided by South Korea's Hyundai Rotem. These cameras will be used to help prevent sexual harassment.
The Cairo Metro will install surveillance cameras inside all of the cars on Lines 1 and 2 to help prevent sexual harassment. The closed-circuit security cameras are integrated within a set of new Metro cars shipped in from South Korea's Hyundai Rotem, which also include a modern air conditioning system, a corridor that allows passengers to move from car to car while the Metro train is moving, and LCD screens.
During the announcement, an official spokesperson for Cairo Metro Company addressed a recent sexual harassment incident on Line 3, which was recorded by the victim and spread on social media, stating that these cameras will allow them to more readily pursue legal action in the event of such crimes.
