Helwan Engineering Students Convert Seawater Into Renewable Energy

A group of students from Helwan University’s Faculty of Engineering just won big at the annual International Innovation Awards (IIA), taking home the second place prize in the green technology and renewable energy category.

The engineering students were given the award in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for their achievements in converting sea water into renewable energy. The Helwan University team came in second at the IIA from a pool of about 438 projects.

The winning team was led by Dr. Mohamed Jamal Hassan, and included a group of five students of the Faculty of Engineering in Al-Matriya, namely Mohamed Ashraf Ahmed Desouki, Mohamed Nabil Guitat, Momen Mustafa Kamal, Muhannad Walid Al-Shehat, and Mohammed Ashraf Abdel Moneim.
