Let's Bum. As in, let's laze about. As in, why stress out about whatever? With kimono brand 'Let’s Bum', it's easy to see how comfort and flair can go hand in hand, laying together in a hammock, swinging idly by while your kimono's sharp designs speak for themselves. And what they're saying is, Sorry, we're busy doing nothing right now - please refer all complaints to someone less stylish than us, thanks.

“I was drawn to the construction and movement of the traditional kimono, and how timeless they are," founder and designer Rania Awad tells #CairoScene. "When I’m in a kimono, I feel effortlessly stylish and I also feel free, I’m not constrained by tight waist bands or buttons and zippers, and something about that made me think that perhaps there’s a niche in the market for a line dedicated to such effortless, fashionable art for both men and women.”

Originally a painter, Awad has an eye for design. Having previously founded Dolls & Dons Events and a store called Monkie Concept due to open soon in Arkan Plaza, Let’s Bum became her personal passion project. “Painting is second nature to me, it’s something I’ve always done alongside anything else," Awad says. "So it’s safe to say that I was definitely inspired by clothing pieces which are, in themselves, art and not just items of clothing."

Awad hopes to expand ‘Let’s Bum’ into the MENA region and introduce a few items that could be used to accessorise the kimonos. Whether you want a stylish piece to throw on top of a swimsuit or a laid back piece to wear in the evening, you can get yours through their IG at @letsbum. ~🖊 Farah Ibrahim
