The Sahara Collection Releases Second Edition of 'Save a Paw' Line

Buy a cute sweater or tote bag and save Egypt's animals.

With recent news spreading of dogs and cats being exported from Egypt for consumption and previous reports of Zamalek’s Nadi Gezirah butchering cats, our voiceless friends have had quite a rough couple of years. It’s not all bad news though, as Egypt has also seen a rise in the number of animal rights activists, shelters and people willing to go the extra mile to save our furry buddies from their aggressors. That's the case with local fashion brand, The Sahara Collection, which has just launched the second edition of their Save A Paw line.

Save A Paw started when brand founder and animal lover, Karmah Sabry, decided to launch a special line of apparel, with all profits from their sales going to shelters around Egypt - an initiative that was backed by the likes of TV and Radio show host, Sherif Nour El Din, and photographer, Abdallah Shaarawi.“Every month, we donate to a different shelter. We want to raise funds for these animals as well as awareness. We also take part in events where we sell our merchandise. So we’ve taken part in Heba Serag El Din’s fashion brunch and we showcase the line in other events as well.”

The second edition of the Save a Paw line includes sweaters, tote bags, t-shirts and tank tops. Save a Paw has also teamed up with Zamalek’s TD Athletics, who'll be hosting a free yoga session for the cause on Monday 10th of December at 8 AM, where The Sahara Collection will be there selling their Save a Paw merchandise. So you get to donate to a good cause, cleanse you aura and stretch all at once.“The idea for this edition is that we wanted the pieces to actually be wearable and not just worn once for the cause and then disregarded,” says Sabry. “So you can wear them with jeans or when you’re going to work out and that’s going to raise even more awareness of the cause.”

You can get your 'paws' on the goods at The Sahara Collection's shop in Zamalek or at One Designs in Maadi.
