Dima Jewellery Launches Malandra Collection

For the past 10 years, Dima Rashid has been crafting the perfect pieces that add the final touches to any outfit, and it seems like she isn’t intending on stopping anytime soon. The designer behind Dima Jewellery has just released her latest F/W '16 collection. The name of the collection - Malandra - was inspired by the women for which it was made, who possess power, strength, and courage. Speaking about her new collection, Rashid says that she chose a name "that beautifully combines the core meaning of this collection and the definition of the character who wears it - a defender of mankind,” which is the original meaning of the word.

The materials and colours used in this collection are a portrayal of uniqueness and a deviation from previous collections Dima Jewellery has released. Previous collections have focused mainly on yellow hammered smooth and brushed gold materials. Malandra, however, is taking on a different angle and focusing on black and gold with embedded diamonds, rubies, and emeralds, on a range of ear cuffs, body chains, layered rings, hand cuffs, and tiara pieces.

Avant-gardesque in nature, the photo shoot behind the collection brings out the boldness behind the pieces. We could go so far as to say as it brings out the warriors in the models - just what Rashid was aiming for. The success of the photo shoot wasn’t coincidental, though, as it had a team of professionals behind it, including photographer Batool AlDaawi from Blow Creative Studios, stylist and mastermind behind the shoot’s concept, Farah El Sayed, Mahmoud Rashed for makeup, and last but not least the model, Heba El Dessouky.

Commenting on the photo shoot Rashid said, “Malandra personifies a strong woman daring to be different and not afraid of expressing a different mystical side. That was the main inspiration for this photo campaign, and choosing the concept was interesting because we wanted something very different from anything else we did before. We wanted to surprise our audience. Choosing this theatrical theme was fun because it meant we could go all out with ideas.”

This collection is meant to be worn by a woman of power, who is not scared to be bold and make a statement. She’s elegant and mystical. She’s not scared to be the centre of attention with her pieces.
