Bus Driver Fails Drug Test, Finds Out He's Pregnant
A bus driver was found to be drug-free when he underwent a standard drug test - but the urine sample he used also indicated he was two months pregnant...
An Egyptian bus driver thought he had devised the master plan to fool a standard drug test, only to find that he was expecting.
The hilarious incident unfolded when the man was selected for a standard drug test along with other bus drivers. Thinking he could fool the system, the man decided to use his wife’s clean urine instead of his own according, to Al-Youm Al-Sabea.
When the results were in, officials were baffled as the sample proved to be clean, but also suggested that the man was two month pregnant. Looking to clear any misunderstanding, officials asked the driver to confirm that the sample was in fact his own. After insisting it was his, the officials finally unveiled the news.
The story became the subject of the Tamer Amin’s Bottom Line political talk show, where the talk show host extrapolated a few lessons that can be learnt from this incident. "Drugs have become available to many and have become as common as cigarettes. This is a calamity,” he said. The other lesson learnt is that transport authorities should require blood tests as well as urine tests to ensure the safety of passengers, and prevent future fake samples.
Although this story could be considered funny because of the results, there is nothing to laugh about when talking about drug abuse and reckless endangerment of passengers and motorists. As it stands, both drug use and accidents continue to rise in Egypt, and if the problem is going to be fixed, then more laws and safeguards need to be established so that drugs like Tramadol aren’t so cheap and widely available.
