Egypt to Open Middle East’s Biggest Marble Factory in Sinai

The biggest marble factory in the Middle East is due to open in Sinai in a joint venture between local tribes and the Egyptian Military, according to Al Masr Al Youm. The factory is due to open around this year's 6th of October celebrations.

Ibrahim El-Erjani, head of Sinai Tribes Union, told Al Masr Al Youm that 24 tribes are going to contribute to the company, which is set to be named named Sons of Sinai, while 18K tribe members are collaborating with the Armed Forces’ National Service Projects Organization (NSPO) on the company.

El-Erjani added that Sons of Sinai is set to utilise state-of-the-art technology in manufacturing marble, with consultation from 'Italian experts' ensuring that the facility is 'up to European standards'.

El-Erjani noted that Sinai’s mountains contain the best and most luxurious marble in the world and that the factory, which has already begun recruiting engineers and workers, will provide more than 1,000 job opportunities. The company is set to target local markets in Egypt, as well as compete in regional markets and with the Gulf.
