Grand Mosque Visitors Now Have Access to ‘Walking Guides’

The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has introduced a new volunteer assistance service to support elderly and disabled pilgrims at Saudi Arabia’s two holy mosques. This initiative aims to improve mobility, enhance accessibility, and provide additional support to worshippers during their visit.

Volunteers will help visitors navigate prayer areas and essential services, with clear signage and floor markers making them easy to identify. They will also assist in reuniting lost children and elderly pilgrims with their families and offer multilingual support to international visitors. Positioned at key locations such as entrances, the Tawaf area, the Sa’i walkway, and main gates, they will help manage crowd flow in busy areas.

Operating within a mobile system, these guides will patrol the mosque complex wearing ID badges and communication devices, creating a responsive and dynamic assistance network.
