The Nile Ritz-Carlton Finally Set to Open this Summer

So it’s just standard by now that if something is opening in Egypt and the time frame is one year, then five years will pass and it’ll still be in the works. 3adi. We run on Egyptian time, okay? Such is the case with the Nile Ritz-Carlton, which has been ‘opening’ for as long as we can remember. But it’s finally (fingers crossed) set to open this summer, following a total renovation of the building formerly known as the Nile Hilton. Zaghroota ya gam3a.

The hotel is located right in the heart of Cairo, next to our now nototrious Tahrir Square, close to the Arab League Headquarters, the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, and the Cairo Opera House – so prime real estate spot in the city. President and Chief Operations Officer of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, Hervé Humler says, “The hotel holds an iconic space in the city’s history and we wanted to salute that. As a brand, we are proud of instilling in all our properties, a distinct personality rooted in a sense of place and history.”

It’s set to have over 300 rooms, ultra fancypants facilities, an Olympic-sized pool with 17 private cabanas (do these each come with their own cabana boy who will fan you with a giant leaf and feed you grapes, we wonder?), a spa, and you know, the rest of the decadent hotel’s whole shebang.

“By complementing the property’s natural strengths with our focus on bespoke service, diverse experiences and rich memories, we aim to reinstate the hotel as pride of national tourism in the country,” Humler adds. The hotel is set to open its doors to the public late this summer, which is fast approaching.
