We've spent our whole lives hearing how important college/university and a degree are, to the extent that it has become a part of our culture and society for people to judge you according to what degree you have or which university you attended. If, however, you never graduated from university, it can become rather grating when people start to treat you as if you're beneath them for not having a degree. If you're one of those people out there without the college degree, you know the LOOK; a mixture of 'seriously?' and 'oh-dear-he-will-probably-end-up-serving-me-fries-poor-thing'. It's actually not that much fun to be on the receiving end of that.
I never graduated from college but I definitely agree that for the most part, a higher education is incredibly important - but when you're really passionate about what you're studying.
