Halloween might be over, but the spooky/scary season is still very much alive. At least according to an upcoming podcast called ‘Saqr’s Eclipse’, that is. And with many retracting back into our stay-at-home aesthetic during the winter, we couldn’t think of a better time for its release. Directed by award-winning Egyptian writer/director Jaylan Auf and produced by trailblazing regional female-led podcast company ‘Kerning Cultures’ (which has produced a myriad of award-winning shows), Saqr’s Eclipse’ is set to be a one-of-its kind thrilling journey looking to leave us a little bit frightened, thrilled and yearning for more at the end of each episode, with Anghami as its official media partner.

The podcast tells the riveting story of Faisal Seqr, a man who embarks on a journey to check out a rare solar eclipse, but is left with an obligation to face his past… or face death. The podcast will borrow the voices of Saudi Arabian actors Ammar Sabban (Faisal Seqr) and Ossama El-Qess (Saqr), with some much-welcomed Egyptian representation with Tara Emad (Reema) and Sedky Sekhr (Bilally).

But beyond entertaining listeners, the podcast has a much bigger goal in mind.  Podcasts are arguably one of the fastest-growing media mediums in the region, but the lack of Arabic content doesn’t reflect the number of storytellers and stories found within the region. Which is something that ‘Saqr’s Eclipse’ strives to rectify. A new episode of ‘Saqr’s Eclipse’ will be released every Tuesday (starting December 29th) on Anghami.
