Legendary Egyptian goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary holds a special place in every Egyptian's heart. And in 2020, he will hold a special place in the Guinness Book of World Records. At the ripe age of 46, El-Hadary will be recognized by Guinness as the oldest player to ever participate in the World Cup.
Some Egyptians may prefer not to remember the country's latest trip to the FIFA World Cup in Russia last year. Despite not winning the tournament, it wasn't a complete loss, as El-Hadary cemented his place in football history. The decorated champion set the record at 45 years of age and 161 days when he took part in Egypt's last match against Saudi Arabia.
